All-Natural Skincare Tips To Prevent Wrinkles (Straight From A Holistic Esthetician!)

One thing about me is that I am a SMILEY gal. annnnnd I’ve noticed in photos lately that I have some smile lines and crow’s-feet poppin’. And hey, no haaaaaate to the crow’s-feet! If smiling a lot is going to cause some wrinkles, I’ll wear them as as a badge of honor!!!

…….Buuuuuut ultimately, I do want skin that ages well. (I think we all do.)

I’d love to have a healthy glow and plump skin throughout the lifespan… and I’ll be honest, seeing more fine lines & wrinkles has been, um, eye-opening (literally). So, I wanted to take matters into my own hands & design a [nontoxic] approach to managing wrinkles using holistic skincare & tools. Ya girl wants to fight wrinkles but DOESN’T want to expose herself to unnecessary chemicals, endocrine disruptors, and artificial fragrances that are in typical “anti-aging” products YA KNOWWWWW.

And, while I am, I am NOT formally trained in skincare— I know someone who is ;)

So, I sent a [semi-frantic] text to the Primally Pure head holistic esthetician (truly the best person to have on speed dial— hey Courtney!) and asked her what I should do to give the skin around my eyes (and other wrinkle-prone areas) some extra love.

As I reviewed the tips she shared, I felt 100% ready to be diligent on this little regimen, doing the exact below skincare hacks once or twice per day and being really intentional about taking good care of my skin. Some of these I was already doing & some I was not. I immediately ordered & restocked the below items, and decided I was going to COMMIT to doing the below for 90 days straight and see the wrinkle-fighting magic for myself :) Does anyone want to join me on the journey to plump, glowing, youthful-looking skin??? (Especially considering this whoooole entire lineup is 10% off today with code “KATE10” Such a steal!)

The way I see it is I’d rather invest a little now in my 20s than have wrinkly skin and pay for expensive treatments down the line. My thought is that using natural, holistic ingredients in my skincare now will put me ahead of the game so I don’t have to pay for it later.

So, without further ado, here is the list of skincare tips for bright and smooth the under-eye area (hand-designed by a holistic esthetician)!

1. FACIAL DRY BRUSH

You know I’m obsessed with body dry brushing, buuuuuuut I recently introduced facial dry brushing to my routine.

Weird? A little.
AMAZING for you skin? You bet.

Facial dry brushing is a gaaame changer in achieving glowing skin & preventing wrinkles. How it works? This little tool helps exfoliate the skin, increases cell turnover, and brings a really nice blood flow & improved circulation to the face (all of which are amazing for preventing wrinkles).

It’s suuuuper easy-- all you do is grab your facial dry brush, start at the center of your face and brush outwards and upwards (making sure to be gentle and sensitive around the eyes). Basically you’re not pressing too hard, you’re just using a light amount of friction to exfoliate, promote lymph movement, and get that youthful gloooooooow.

Bonus: this makes your skin SO soft. 10/10 recommend.

2. THIS PLUMPING FACIAL MIST

Okay, #2 and #3 on this list are the FOUNDATION of your wrinkle-fighting regimen: the plumping facial mist and the plumping serum (name a better duo, I’ll wait….)

Let’s start with the plumping mist.

WHAT MAKES IT SO GREAT?
-
The natural ingredients in this facial mist support cell renewal and stimulate hyaluronic acid production for wrinkle-prevention and glooooowy magic :)
-ALOE VERA: A great source of antioxidants that stimulates the production of hyaluronic acid + collagen in the skin to rebuild hydration at a cellular level.
-PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL: Contains vitamins and minerals to naturally plump skin, promote circulation and reawaken dull complexions
-GLYCERIN: Sourced from organic seeds, this attracts moisture to maintain skin’s pH levels
-ROSE: Antibacterial properties, packed with antioxidants, and vitamins A + C, helps neutralize free radicals that would otherwise contribute to aging.

How to use it:
-After facial dry brushing, do a few spritzes of the plumping mist all over the face (smells so good. I LOVE this step. an instant mini mood boost! refreshing for both my skin and my mood )

3. PLUMPING SERUM

Right after the facial mist, you’ll grab your plumping serum (AKA the holy grail).

HOW IT WORKS: This serum reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and skin damage (like sun spots) by hydrating, stimulating collagen production, and reducing free radically damage. This serum gives results, naturally.

WHAT MAKES IT SO GREAT:
-POMEGRANATE SEED OIL: A potent antioxidant, this oil is phenomenal at fighting free radicals and reversing skin damage.
-GREEN COFFEE OIL: Packed with caffeine, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids this helps increase skin firmness by promoting collagen and elastin production.
-CASTOR OIL: Helps to plump skin by hydrating and promoting collagen with a hearty source of vitamin E and omegas 6 and 9.
-ASTAXANTHIN: Sourced from algae, this compound is an incredibly strong antioxidant and helps to restore skin elasticity, texture and tone.

HOW TO USE IT:
-After the facial mist, add 3-4 drops of the serum to your face— gently massage the serum into your skin, giving special attention to any wrinkle-prone areas. (Rub the serum in gently, not pressing or tugging too hard on your beautiful skin! Just gently pat into your skin with love, intention, and take a deeeep breath.)
-ENJOY IT! I used to rush through my skincare, but now I kind of make it a self-care ~event~ and really savor the ritual.  Mmmmmm, so good.

4. GUA SHA

You allllllllllll know I’m obsessed with gua sha—I use gua sha to reduce puffiness and take care of bags under my eyes (click here for an insane #nofilter before & after photo).

….But here’s a trick that Courtney passed along that I wasn’t doing: using the ridged side of the gua sha to do quick, light, back and forth motions around the area where you may get wrinkles. (You can watch a tutorial with Court on how to do this properly here)

This gentle (but impactful) stimulation produces collagen, improves circulation, and boosts skin renewal. This is a huge trick for wrinkle-prone areas and is such a simple add-on to your gua sha routine. I plan to do it for 2ish minutes each day. I can’t wait to get started with this!

5. BABY BALM AROUND THE EYES

Ya know how on the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” the grandpa is OBSESSED with Windex and thinks it’s the cure-all for everything? That’s how I am with this baby balm, hahahah.

While it’s technically intended to be a holistic, nontoxic option for both mom and baby skin (diaper rash, sore nipples from breastfeeding, preventing stretch marks, etc.), it is used for SOOO much more than that (just read the reviews) Irritated skin? Baby balm. Dry lips? Baby balm. Rash? Baby balm. annnnnnd eye wrinkles? BABY BALM.

At the end of day I use Primally Pure’s Baby Balm around my eyes, gently rubbing it around the eye area and massaging it into the skin. This stuff is AMAZING for brightening and moisturizing skin and preventing wrinkles. It contains organic marshmallow root, which is great for improving dark spots, stretch marks and any darkness or discoloration on the skin (for anyone like me that has had lifelong dark undereyes…. Look no further! This is for you).

It also has tallow, which provides beautiful nourishment and fat for keeping your skin plump, moist, and healthy. This stuff brightens eyes and prevents wrinkles. Plus, it’s so dang affordable and it lasts FOREVER—I’m literally still on my first canister and I use it every day???? It almost feels a little bizarre??? Like, is this a joke, HOW are you still full???? hahahah

Trust me, friend— skip the windex. this is the real 837491873892-in-1 product ;)

optional additional add-ons

While the above list is the exact steps I plan to follow for the next 90 days, there were a few additional ideas I wanted to share for fighting wrinkles & promoting youthful skin. Some of these were from Courtney, both of us, or just me! Again, I would primarily focus on the above steps— but if you’re lookin’ for a lil extra somethin’ somethin’, here you go!

  • First and foremost…. the main thing Courtney and I instantly agreed on is that the best way to prevent wrinkles is by taking care of your health. While fancy products are fun, we just CANNOT forget that how our skin looks on the outside can represent how we are treating ourselves on the inside. One of the best “hacks” for healthy, glowing skin is NOURISHING yourself with whole foods, organic vegetables, healthy fats, proper hydration, and quality sleep. Take care of these foundational aspects of health and your skin will follow suit.

  • This whole dang skincare collection: As I mentioned above, I love love love the plumping mist and plumping serum from primally pure, but I didn’t even cover the half of it…. they have a FULL plumping collection of wrinkle-fighting goodness. If you are looking for a nourishing way to wash your face, a wrinkle-prventing face mask, or a rich, moisturizing facial moisturizer, look no further. I use this collection for preventing wrinkles & giving my skin a beautiful, natural GLOW. If you’re looking for something that will add a richness, plumpness, and nourishment to your skin-- you’ve found it. I love love love this entire line. If you want to take your wrinkle prevention to the next level, this collection is the perfect place to start to cover allllll of your bases. • Eye cream. Another product I like is the eye cream from the clean beauty company Cocokind. The tube has a metal applicator that feels sooooooo cooling and nice on the skin. I don’t use this quite as frequently as the products mentioned above, but I really like it and it has great reviews as a product that’s specifically for the eye area so I just wanted to pass it along.

  • Resurfacing mask. This face mask is also from Cocokind and hoooooooly cow. I put this on before bed and my skin is SO soft when I wake up. This mask is a natural exfoliant that resurfaces the face and is helpful for wrinkles in the long term. Just put it on before bed and you’ll wake up with glowing skin. I loooove this.

  • SPF. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention sunscreen when talking about wrinkle prevention! Here are my thoughts on sunscreen— it is absolutely soooo important, but I also think a reasonable amount natural exposure to Vitamin D is good for us! Not to mention, many of the conventional sunscreens are FILLED with known carcinogens & toxins so I definitely am mindful about which sunscreen I use. Sunscreens are so important in preventing skin cancer, premature damage, sun spots, and wrinkles— and I absolutely DO want to be mindful about using mineral sunscreens and incorporating them day to day on my face. One sunscreen I like for my face is from Cocokind and I also freaking LOVE the ILIA super skin tint—it has 40 SPF and a light foundation in one! I use this on my skin every day for some effortless SPF on my face. ILIA also has an SPF matte powder that has sun protection as well (this is so great if you want to “reapply” sunscreen but not mess up your makeup or get all greasy). I try to be mindful of putting that around my eyes not only to brighten up my face but to be actively fighting wrinkles with my makeup routine every day.

  • Wide brim hats & sunglasses: While sunscreen is one way to create a barrier between your beautiful skin and damaging rays, another great way is to wear a hat, wide-brim visor, and sunglasses when outside! This is an effortless thing that can be major in preventing wrinkles on the face. If you are constantly squinting and scrunching up your face in the sun and exposing yourself unnecessarily to excessive UVA/UVB rays, you could definitely age prematurely. Grab that hat & sunglasses, lady!
