camping + outdoors favorites
When people ask what my “happy place” is, I instantly picture camping with my hunny. Quiet days, reading by the water, hiking during the afternoon, cooking over the fire, playing cribbage in the tent…ahhhhhh. I can’t quite describe the feeling that being in the woods gives me, but to put it simply—it’s where I feel most free. Most me. I’ve gone camping in the mountains of the Tetons, the peaks of Glacier, the mossy forests of Oregon, the blues + greens of Alaska, the tranquility of the Boundary Waters, and the grandeur of Banff National Park… and no matter where I go, I still get that feeling. That feeling of pause, intention, play, joy. My happy place isn’t a place—it’s a thing. Camping.
And it’s safe to say everyone has their own unique “happy place,” but I’d wager that most people’s involves being in nature in some way—on a beach, a mountain, a trail…nature has always been a refuge for humanity, and some camping gear is a great way to invest in adventure, peace, and time with those you love! These are just 6 random favorites— if you want the fulllll synopsis on my camping gear, check out “The Master List Of Camping Gear: All The Things You Do (...And Don't) Need”

Awwww, my sweet lil polaroid. Hands down my favorite way to document life—we go through about 1-2 packs of film per month, and there’s just something magic about holding your photos—so nostalgic and grounding. Each year, we fill one scrapbook (linked above) to collect allll the photos from each year, and have a sweet (and super simple!) way to document life. I LOVE this because as well-intentioned as I may be, I never go through the process to print off the photos on my phone or computer. Like, ever. Having a polaroid takes out all the hard work of printing photos and gives you tangible printed photo keepsakes to save for a lifetime! Hiiiiiighly recommend investing in one. (In case you’re curious—here is the camera and film I use! I’ll also print out some photos on polaroids as well. So cool!)

Above are 6 simple swaps that are SO easy and can have a maaaaajor long-term impact for our eath. It truly is the cumulation of small choices that can lead to a huge reduction in pollution, waste, and chemical burden. While, I fully acknowledge that these small things are not going to solve the climate crisis overnight (large-scale impact is going to come from the “bigger picture” things like the reconstruction of our hyper-consumeristic society, VOTING for those who stand up for the earth, and systems change), but that doesn’t mean that we can’t also make our own unique impact with our individual daily choices.
I TRULY believe that small actions add up, and I wanted to give simple swaps you may not have been aware of! These are just a few simple items— I shared a fulllll blog post outlining 17 Eco-Friendly Product Swaps (That Are *Actually* Effortless…)
fitness favorites: home gym
Safe to say, with the workin’ + grad schoolin’ + bloggin’ life, my time for the gym was hard to find…so I took matters into my own hands and designed a small-but-mighty home gym of my own! That way I could fit in a workout any time of day with zero commute or planning needed. Wanna know what happened? I instantly started working out more often because the time-efficient, at-home workouts were much more realistic for my lifestyle. While I don’t always have time for a 60-minute workout class and a drive to the gym, I can almost always find the time for a 15-25 minute workout!
As with most things in life, an all-or-nothing approach usuuuuallly leaves you with nothing. In my opinion, an intentional 20-minute workout is always always always better than a 0-minute workout, ya feel me? :) And my home gym has become one of my favorite places in the world to squeeze physical activity into my every day!
